Today, MLB announced who would be participating in the 3rd regular season of the MLB Fan Cave. For the second straight year, they are going with nine baseball superfans to start off that will battle their way to stay throughout the season. Unfortunately, myself and fellow 3U3Der Jeremy Dorn weren’t able to crack the starting lineup and were eliminated in the top 30. However, we know that the people that made it to 4th and Broadway are going to bring a lot to the fans this season.
Favorite team: New York Mets
Travis has been a veteran of the MLB Fan Cave, making the top 30 in 2012 and narrowly missing out on making it to New York City. Not this year, where the New York native returns to his home state to cheer on the Metropolitans. He’s been widely regarded as the “mayor” of the MLB Fan Cave for bringing together his fellow contestants. He’s worked the past two seasons with the Associated Press, covering both the Cubs and White Sox, so don’t expect him to be intimidated when players come visit. He’ll turn into a puddle though if Taylor Swift shows up though. Travis’ Twitter handle is @attravismiller
Favorite team: Cincinnati Reds
Ben will be representing the defending NL Central champions in the Fan Cave. He’s originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and now lives in New York City, where we was previously making lobster rolls and being a writer for the Upright Citizens Brigade. He also created the YouTube series “Long-Haired Businessmen” that can be found here. He’ll be bringing the funny to the Fan Cave. Ben’s Twitter handle is @benweitmarschen.
Favorite team: Chicago White Sox
The Windy City gets their first Fan Cave representative in Marcus. Marcus is witty and came up big in the Fan Cave 30’s baseball puns videos. I worked with him and Ben in Arizona and they both are solid in front of the camera. He’s also opinionated on his teams, which will lead to some great talk on Twitter! Speaking of Twitter, you can check him out there with the handle @_MHa11.
Favorite team: Toronto Blue Jays
After not making the top 50 in 2012, April regrouped and finds herself heading down from the Great White North to New York City. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the Blue Jays completely retooled during the offseason and may be the AL East favorites. April runs the website JaysProspects.com and has personally interviewed a ton of players. She’s big on Twitter where you can join her 6,500+ followers @Alleycat17.
Favorite team: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
The Angels join the Braves and the Yankees as the only teams to have had multiple Cave Dwellers in MLB Fan Cave history. Farris has big shoes to fill from runner-up Ricardo Marquez, but Danny has the ability to do it. He’s funny, good-looking, and tall. He’ll be a hit with all fans. He also played actual baseball at Virginia Tech, giving him extra baseball knowledge of the game. Danny’s Twitter handle is @ohshootitsdan.
Favorite team: Boston Red Sox
Nick will be the first member of Red Sox Nation to try and watch every game during the course of the season. He’s a natural at being funny and will team up well with Ben on bringing funny skits to the Fan Cave. He performs with the Upright Citizens Brigade and is fantastic at improv. He’ll be able to make players feel comfortable around him. If they’re lucky he can hook them up with Boar’s Head sandwiches from where he used to work! You can check out his blog here. Nick’s Twitter handle is @grevalt.
Favorite team: Cleveland Indians
Alex will be coming to New York City from THE Ohio State University. (Sorry, they get upset if you don’t say it like that.) She’s a rocker on the outside, but a sweetheart on the inside. Alex will be loved by all fans I think. As I’ve said in a previous blog, if Alex can win the MLB Fan Cave, it’d be the biggest win for Cleveland and baseball in a long, long time. Alex’s Twitter handle is @alexjustice4all.
Favorite team: Los Angeles Dodgers
The Fan Cave battles between the two Los Angeles representatives will be fun that’s for sure. Aaron is fun-loving and outgoing, but also really knows the game. He was great in the trivia rounds during the top 30 and was the Dodgers correspondent with MLB Reports. You can find his personal blog here and his Twitter handle is @BertsBall.
Favorite team: Texas Rangers
I know she currently lives in Los Angeles, but Mina is a Texas girl through and through. She attended the University of Texas, so expect her to be doubly active when it comes time for the NCAA baseball tournament. She seems quiet, but is really creative and willing to put herself out there. During the Fan Cave process she showed that she can interview normal people and make it entertaining, I can’t wait to see what she does interviewing players. Mina’s Twitter handle is @minapark.
There’s your starting lineup for the MLB Fan Cave this season! Who’s your favorite to make it all the way through the season and watch all 2,430 MLB games? Let us know in the comments.
